Our [best fuel credit cards](/articles/credit-cards/best-fuel-credit-cards-india) guide compares fuel cards across brands. This review looks at the regular **BPCL SBI Card**, the cheaper sibling of the [BPCL SBI Card Octane](/credit-cards/sbi-card/bpcl-octane).

## BPCL SBI Card at a glance

| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Annual fee | INR 499 + taxes |
| Fee reversal | INR 1 lakh annual spend (INR 50,000 before 1 May 2026) |
| Welcome benefit | 2,000 bonus points (INR 500) within 20 days of paying the joining fee |
| BPCL fuel | 13 points per INR 100 = 3.25%, up to 1,300 points a cycle, on transactions up to INR 4,000 |
| Surcharge waiver | 1% at BPCL, up to INR 100 per statement cycle |
| Dining, departmental stores, grocery, movies | 5 points per INR 100 = 1.25%, up to 5,000 points a month |
| Other spends | 1 point per INR 100 = 0.25% (no points on wallet loads or non-BPCL fuel) |
| Point value | 4 points = INR 1 |
| Redemption | Instant redemption at select BPCL pumps |

The 4.25% applies only when you **swipe the card at the BPCL pump's POS machine**, on transactions up to INR 4,000 excluding GST and charges.

## The maths

| BPCL fuel a month | Points value | Surcharge waiver | Total a year |
|---|---|---|---|
| INR 3,000 | INR 97.50 | INR 30 | INR 1,530 |
| INR 4,000 | INR 130 | INR 40 | INR 2,040 |
| INR 10,000 | INR 325 (cap) | INR 100 (cap) | INR 5,100 |

Above INR 10,000 a month the 1,300-point cap stops further accelerated points, so heavy users should look at Octane. To get the INR 499 fee reversed you now need INR 1 lakh a year, about INR 8,300 a month across all spends.

Note: SBI Card plans to charge a 1% fee on fuel spends above INR 50,000 in a billing cycle from 1 December 2026. That is well above the level at which this card makes sense; see [SBI Card's 1% fee on fuel and transport](/articles/credit-cards/sbi-card-1-percent-fee-fuel-transport-december-2026).

## Who should get it

- **Drivers who fill up at BPCL** and spend INR 2,000-INR 10,000 a month on fuel.
- **People who want a low-fee fuel card** that also earns 1.25% on groceries and dining.

## Who should skip it

- **Heavy BPCL users.** The cap makes [BPCL SBI Card Octane](/credit-cards/sbi-card/bpcl-octane) better.
