This is a step-by-step guide to **how to apply for the Bombay Coated IPO** using UPI or ASBA. It is part of the [Bombay Coated IPO DRHP and RHP breakdown](/articles/ipo/bombay-coated-ipo) and our [IPO guides](/ipo).

> **Educational content, not investment advice.** This page explains the issue using the company's own offer documents and exchange filings. tldr.money is not a SEBI-registered investment adviser or research analyst, and nothing here is a recommendation to apply for, buy, sell or hold any security. IPO investments can lose money, including on listing day. Read the [red herring prospectus](https://www.bseindia.com/markets/publicIssues/DisplayIPO?IPONo=8065&id=4911&idtype=1&startdt=29%2F10%2F2026&status=F&type=IPO) before you bid, and speak to a SEBI-registered adviser if you need personal advice.

## Before you start: checklist

- **A demat and trading account** in your name. Allotted shares can only be credited in dematerialised form.
- **PAN** linked to that demat account. The registrar checks bids against PAN.
- **A bank account with ASBA or UPI** in the same name, with enough balance for your bid. The money is blocked, not debited, until allotment.
- **A UPI ID** if you will pay by UPI. Your bank must support UPI for IPOs.
- **The right category.** Retail (up to INR 2 lakh), small NII (above INR 2 lakh to INR 10 lakh), big NII (above INR 10 lakh). See the [HNI quota guide](/articles/ipo/bombay-coated-ipo-hni-nii-quota).

## Bidding window and cut-offs

| | Time (IST) |
|---|---|
| Bidding days | Wednesday 29 October 2026 to Monday 2 November 2026 |
| Online bids and revisions | confirm on the BSE IPO page for BCSSL on each bidding day |
| Physical ASBA forms | confirm on the exchange issue page (typically earlier than online close) on the closing day (confirm) |
| UPI mandate approval deadline | the UPI mandate cut-off on Monday 2 November 2026 (confirm on BSE) |

Do not leave it to the last hour on the closing day; bank and UPI systems can slow down when volumes are high.

## Method 1: UPI through your broker app

This is the usual route for retail investors and NII bids up to INR 5 lakh.

1. **Open the IPO section** of your broker app and select Bombay Coated and Special Steels Limited.
2. **Choose your category.** Retail ("individual"), HNI.
3. **Enter quantity in lots.** One lot is 182 shares. Retail investors can bid for up to 13 lots at the cut-off.
4. **Tick "cut-off price"** if you are eligible and want the final price. NIIs cannot bid at the cut-off and must enter a price within INR 78 to INR 82.
5. **Enter your UPI ID** and submit.
6. **Approve the mandate in your UPI app** before the UPI mandate cut-off on Monday 2 November 2026 (confirm on BSE). Until you do, your bid is not complete.
7. **Check the status** in your UPI app and broker app.

## Method 2: ASBA through net banking

Use this for NII bids above INR 5 lakh, or if you prefer your bank.

1. Log in to net banking and open the **IPO / ASBA** section.
2. Link your demat account details (DP ID and client ID) if asked.
3. Select Bombay Coated and Special Steels Limited, choose the category, enter lots and price (or the cut-off, if eligible).
4. Confirm. The bank blocks the amount directly.

## Changing or cancelling a bid

| You are | Can you revise? | Can you cancel? |
|---|---|---|
| Retail | Up or down, until close | Yes, until close |
| NII (HNI) or QIB | Upwards only | No |

## Common mistakes that get bids rejected

- **Not approving the UPI mandate** before the deadline.
- **A UPI ID in someone else's name.**
- **Retail bids above INR 2 lakh** at the cap price.
- **Multiple bids** in the net issue under the same PAN (except permitted reservation combinations).
- **Insufficient balance** when the bank tries to block the amount.

## After you apply

| Date (on or about) | What happens |
|---|---|
| Tuesday 3 November 2026 | Basis of allotment finalised |
| Wednesday 4 November 2026 | Shares credited to demat; money unblocked if you got nothing |
| Thursday 5 November 2026 | Trading starts on NSE and BSE |

Check your allotment on the registrar's or exchanges' sites: [Bombay Coated IPO allotment status](/articles/ipo/bombay-coated-ipo-allotment-status). If money stays blocked after the unblock date, contact your bank first and then KFin Technologies Limited (einward.ris@kfintech.com, 1800 309 4001).
