This is a step-by-step guide to **how to apply for the Jio IPO** using UPI or ASBA. It is part of the [Jio IPO DRHP and RHP breakdown](/articles/ipo/jio-ipo) and our [IPO guides](/ipo).

> **Educational content, not investment advice.** This page explains the issue using the company's own offer documents and exchange filings. tldr.money is not a SEBI-registered investment adviser or research analyst, and nothing here is a recommendation to apply for, buy, sell or hold any security. IPO investments can lose money, including on listing day. Read the [red herring prospectus](https://www.sebi.gov.in/sebi_data/attachdocs/oct-2026/1792045029108.pdf) before you bid, and speak to a SEBI-registered adviser if you need personal advice.

## Before you start: checklist

- **A demat and trading account** in your name. Allotted shares can only be credited in dematerialised form.
- **PAN** linked to that demat account. The registrar checks bids against PAN.
- **A bank account with ASBA or UPI** in the same name, with enough balance for your bid. The money is blocked, not debited, until allotment.
- **A UPI ID** if you will pay by UPI. Your bank must be on SEBI's list of banks that support UPI for IPOs; most large banks are.
- **The right category.** Retail (up to INR 2 lakh), small NII (above INR 2 lakh to INR 10 lakh), big NII (above INR 10 lakh), RIL shareholder (up to INR 2 lakh) or employee. See the [HNI quota guide](/articles/ipo/jio-ipo-hni-nii-quota) and the [RIL shareholder quota guide](/articles/ipo/jio-ipo-ril-shareholder-quota).

## Bidding window and cut-offs

| | Time (IST) |
|---|---|
| Bidding days | Wednesday 21 to Friday 23 October 2026 |
| Online bids and revisions | 9:00 am to 7:00 pm on each bidding day |
| Physical ASBA forms | 9:00 am to 1:00 pm on the closing day |
| UPI mandate approval deadline | 7:00 pm on Friday 23 October 2026 |

Timings are from the price band advertisement and BSE's issue page. Do not leave it to the last hour on the closing day; bank and UPI systems can slow down when volumes are high.

## Method 1: UPI through your broker app

This is the usual route for retail investors, RIL shareholders, employees and NII bids up to INR 5 lakh.

1. **Open the IPO section** of your broker app and select Jio Platforms Limited.
2. **Choose your category.** Retail ("individual"), shareholder, employee or HNI.
3. **Enter quantity in lots.** One lot is 12 shares. Retail investors can bid for up to 14 lots at the cut-off.
4. **Tick "cut-off price"** if you are a retail investor, RIL shareholder or employee and want the final price, whatever it is. NIIs cannot bid at the cut-off and must enter a price within INR 1,065 to INR 1,119.
5. **Enter your UPI ID** and submit. The broker sends the bid to the exchange.
6. **Approve the mandate in your UPI app.** You will get a request from your bank's UPI app or the app linked to your UPI ID. Check the amount, enter your UPI PIN and approve. Until you do, your bid is not complete.
7. **Check the status.** Your UPI app should show the mandate as approved and the amount as blocked. The broker app should show the bid as accepted.

## Method 2: ASBA through net banking

Use this for NII bids above INR 5 lakh, or if you prefer your bank.

1. Log in to net banking and open the **IPO / ASBA** section.
2. Link your demat account details (DP ID and client ID) if asked.
3. Select Jio Platforms, choose the category, enter lots and price (or the cut-off, if you are eligible).
4. Confirm. The bank blocks the amount in your account directly. There is no UPI mandate step.

You can also submit a physical ASBA form at a designated bank branch or with a syndicate member, until 1:00 pm on the closing day.

## Changing or cancelling a bid

| You are | Can you revise? | Can you cancel? |
|---|---|---|
| Retail, RIL shareholder or employee | Up or down, until 7:00 pm on 23 October | Yes, until 7:00 pm on 23 October |
| NII (HNI) or QIB | Upwards only | No |

## Common mistakes that get bids rejected

- **Not approving the UPI mandate** before 7:00 pm on 23 October.
- **A UPI ID in someone else's name.** The bank account must belong to the bidder, or to the first bidder in a joint application.
- **Retail bids above INR 2 lakh** at the cap price. At the cut-off, 15 lots (INR 2,01,420) is no longer a retail bid.
- **Multiple bids** in the net issue under the same PAN. The RHP lets the company reject them, except for the permitted shareholder and employee combinations.
- **Insufficient balance** when the bank tries to block the amount.

## After you apply

| Date (on or about) | What happens |
|---|---|
| Monday 26 October 2026 | Basis of allotment finalised with NSE |
| Tuesday 27 October 2026 | Shares credited to demat; money unblocked if you got nothing |
| Wednesday 28 October 2026 | Trading starts on NSE and BSE |

Check your allotment on the registrar's or exchanges' sites, linked in [Jio IPO dates, allotment status and listing](/articles/ipo/jio-ipo-dates-allotment-status). If money stays blocked after the unblock date, contact your bank first and then the registrar, KFin Technologies, at jioplatforms.ipo@kfintech.com or 1800 309 4001.
